I have had far more requests for this song than any other song off
Obsolete. It is a memorable tune, and pretty catchy. The main riff
(Riff A) reminds me of "Replica" in a weird way; if you look at it
without playing it, it doesn't look like it will sound very good. But
if you play it, it actually does sound pretty good.
Technically, this is a typical Fear Factory song, but I would try very
hard to make Riff A mold well with the drums (if you play this live or
in rehearsals). Make sure your timing is sharp. Have fun!
Tune all strings down a perfect fifth (A, D, G, C, E, A)
LEGEND:
* -- palm-mute
H -- hit-on
P -- pull-off
~~~~ -- vibrato
A.H. -- Artificial Harmonic
N.H. -- Natural Harmonic
/ -- slide up
\ -- slide down
X -- lay fingers on strings to cause a "thud"; a "dead note"
moderate to slow speed
Intro: "Due to the graphic nature of this program, listener discretion
is advised" followed by some sampled mixing sounds, and then into Riff A
Riff F
So that you don't have to move your hand around, play the D (5th
fret on the A string) with your little finger and the C# (4th fret
on the A string) with your ring finger. That way, your index and
middle fingers are free so they can play the chords at the end.
